Professional Dog Training

Our Team

Meet the

Arsenal K9 Team

FOUNDER / PRESIDENT

Jason Arsenault

Arsenal K9 officially opened its doors in 2019 after owner, Jason Arsenault, left the police service and pursued his career in dog training.

Arsenal K9 has evolved rapidly over the past 3 years, expanding to 5 locations and serving multiple communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta.  Arsenal K9 focuses on professional and standardized pet training across all of its locations offering real world, reliable dog training with an unprecedented guarantee and lifetime support; unheard of in the industry. From East to West, we will take care of you.

All of our trainers receive in house training and come from many training backgrounds. So no matter where you go, you will be provided professional, reliable dog training.

I knew that dog owners in Western Canada needed more than hobby style training. I sought out and trained under some of the best trainers in the world and was provided the opportunity to train hands-on with countless dogs over the past 25 years.

Most dog trainers see dog training as a side gig; something to do as a hobby in between shifts at their full time job. Well, I made it my career!

Jason spent 15 years as a police officer and started Arsenal K9 in 2012 while maintaining his career. While at work, Jason worked closely with the K9 unit helping as a quarry and laying tracks for the police dogs. After attending training schools, multiple trips to Germany and USA to train with top K9 trainers and Police K9 handlers and trainers, Jason made the choice to pursue his passion full time. In 2017 Arsenal K9 was rebranded and Jason took part in an extensive six-month training program in the USA, training with and learning from various elite trainers. Arsenal K9 opened its first location in 2019 and Since then, Jason has travelled throughout the USA and Europe multiple times, seeking out and training with some of the top trainers in the world to learn from, all with their own unique take on dog training. Jason has now a certified trainer through American Society of Canine Trainers.

I made it my passion.

I am the founder of Arsenal K9.  Jennalee and I will continue building up Arsenal K9 and the team to offer the most effective dog training services to our clients.

CO-OWNER / VICE PRESIDENT

Jennalee ARSENAULT

Jason and I had met earlier in 2021 and were helping each other with our own personal businesses for a while. We finally went to Belgium together and worked with some great trainers out there. We had then decided we should put our skills together and help build Arsenal K9 up even more. I joined the team officially in October 2021.

I enjoy developing programs, systems, and processes for the business. I enjoy building up the social media following and helping the business side run smoothly. I also work alongside Jason with our working dog program.

I enjoy nature, traveling and learning about business.

I currently have two German Shepherds, Calamity & Freyja. I also have a male Malinois sticking around a bit, Tyr.

Jason and I will continue building up Arsenal K9 and the team to the best of our abilities and offer the best dog training services to our clients!

CALGARY/OLDS/RED DEER, ALBERTA TRAINER

Jessica Rutschke

Jess came into the world with an unconditional love for our canine friends. Ever since she can remember she was hanging out with the dogs and taking part in any opportunity she could to learn about our furry friends. After graduation she scored a job at a doggy daycare as a janitor and from there worked her way up to managing the dog walking department. Jess moved on to start and sell her own dog walking business before graduating Mount Royal University Funeral Services program. Jess enjoyed her work in the funeral home but never could cure the longing she had to work with dog’s full time. Over the years Jess has taken on many challenging behavioural cases and rehabilitated them into model canine citizens. She has worked with rescues, breeders, and owners like you! She finds it very rewarding to watch dogs blossom and live life to the fullest with their human companions. Jess raised hounds primarily until she fell in love with the Dutch shepherd and Belgium Malinois breeds. Her pride and joy Sapphire is a 2-year-old Dutch Shepherd who was the reason that she met Jason and Jenna. While looking for advice on her dog she was able to have an assessment done by Jason to see if she would be a good sport dog prospect. Jason’s skills as a decoy were unlike anyone else Jess had witnessed. He really brought out her purpose and drive. Jess was amazed at the knowledge Jason and Jenna had but also the fact that they were so welcoming and just outright kind. Jess could tell they had a passion and that their mind set really aligned with hers. When the 6-week trainer school came available, Jess jumped on the opportunity. She had no idea that these 6 weeks would be a life changer not only for her but Sapphire. They both left training camp with wicked skills and an enthusiasm for life. Jess is honoured to be apart of the top dog training company in the world and is looking forward to what the future holds.

VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C. MANAGER / TRAINER

MIGUEL RODRIGUEZ

Miguel’s love of dogs started early in his childhood with his grand parents’ German Shepherds and continued to grow when he got his first dog, Diego (an American Eskimo) when he was 13. A couple other dogs shared his life over the years, but it was Zulu, a Malinois that he got in 2014, that really got him into dog training. Like someone who had just gotten their driver’s licence buying a Ferrari for their first car, Zulu forced him to learn very quickly. A dominant dog who through a combination of natural genetics, the handler’s inexperience, and lack of resources during his developmental period, Zulu developed severe reactivity issues. Miguel spent several years reading books, attending seminars, taking video courses, and worked with trainers to help Zulu. Eventually Zulu was able to manage his behavior to where he could coexist in the normal world. Although a certain level of vigilance and management was always needed, Zulu and Miguel went everywhere together, from ferries, to shopping centres, to hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, summiting one of the “Island Qualifiers” and 6the tallest peak on Vancouver island to off-leash bike rides on the Galloping Goose Trail, and countless other adventures. They say that it is often the hardest things in life that force us to grow and reach heights in our personal development that we would never have reached by any other way. This was certainly the case with Miguel and Zulu.

Since then, Miguel continues to learn and pursue his passion of working with dogs. By sharing his personal experiences and the knowledge he has gained, he hopes that he can help other owners build a better relationship and bond with their canine companions.

Prince Albert Franchise Owner/Trainer

Desiree Morin

I have always been passionate about dogs. But In 2020, one of my childhood friends rolled his vehicle in the ditch. When emergency services arrived, he was nowhere to be found. Search and Rescue nor RCMP K9 unit were able to find him. At this time, my family had four shepherds and none of them were trained well enough to help in the search. This was the very moment I made the decision to pursue my education in K9 work.
I took a Dog Behaviour and Training Methodology course from the Edmonton Humane Society. I am certified in Pet First Aid. I have taken a handler/trainer course that specialized in tracking, detection, protection, obedience and behaviour modification through Arsenal K9.
I enjoy camping and dirt biking in my down time. I have two canine companions. Merlot, is a 6 year old German Shepherd. Hannibal is a 4 year old Belgian Malinois and a 9 month old Malinios
